Audi check engine codes
Overview
Audi shares most engines with Volkswagen. Turbocharged direct injection engines dominate, so boost leaks, PCV failures, coils, and carbon buildup on intake valves are frequent sources of codes.
Codes notably common on Audi
Audi specific notes
- Many Audi 2.0T engines use a PCV (crankcase breather) valve with a diaphragm that can tear, causing a whistle and lean running. VW group service information describes how to test it.
- Direct injection engines can build carbon on intake valves over time, which can contribute to rough running and misfires. Have deposits confirmed before paying for cleaning.
